This hand hewn hardwood barn was originally built circa 1840. It has a large hardwood swing beam and a very nice set of hand hewn rafters.
The swing beam is the focal point of this barn. Swing beams were used to create a clear span across the threshing floor of the barn. An ox, tethered to a pivot in the center of the threshing floor, could walk in a circle unhindered by posts and thresh the grain.
