Heritage Restorations - Timber Frame Barns

 Route 32 Barn
This hand hewn hardwood barn was built originally off Route 32 near Greenville, NY circa 1850.
The Route 32 barn before restoration.

The beautiful oak timbers in this barn are massive. The vertical arcade posts in the center of the building are 12"x12" and over 32' tall, which is taller than an average telephone pole! The horizontal top plate being fit in the picture below has a girth of 10"x10" and is 54' long.
At a little over 40' to the peak, this is the tallest barn we've ever restored.
"All hands on!" It took our whole crew to fit this corner post and it's braces.
Structural insulated panels (SIP's) wrap the entire frame to form a very energy efficient, air tight insulated living area. Click Here for more information about SIP's.
