This interesting king post design timber frame was built in the Mohawk river valley of upper New York state, circa 1830.
The frame being dismantled.
Steel leg extensions were added to the feet of the wall posts, giving the barn extra head height under the loft. These extensions will be wrapped with stone, creating the visual impression of an original stone foundation pillar.
The restored barn has been reerected outside Dallas, Texas and will be finished as a two bedroom home, complete with an open two story great room and loft.
Using original hand hewn timbers, Heritage Restorations built an L shaped addition onto the original frame. This gives the finished home, including the loft, just under 1500 square feet of living space.
