This small hand hewn hemlock timber frame was built originally in New York state circa 1830. We modified the frame to fit an existing stone foundation. The roof is made of sawn cedar shingles.
Note the large hand cut stones used at the four corners of the barn as foundation stones.
The large cupola was completely built on the ground, then raised in one piece.
At Homestead Heritage, we use the finished building as a working barn for our herb garden, as well as for teaching classes on herb gardening and other homesteading skills.
