This early 28 x 40 barn frame was built originally in Long Valley, New
Jersey circa 1810.
Heritage Restorations restored and reerected the frame on a ranch in the
rolling hills of east Texas. The barn was originally built on a three
foot perimeter stone wall. To add interior head height, its’ new
foundation has a five foot concrete perimeter wall which has been faced
with natural stone inside and out.
The barn is constructed of all hand-hewn chestnut timbers. American
chestnut trees were eradicated by a blight in the early 1900’s, so huge
chestnut timbers such as these, cut from the virgin forests, are as rare
as they are beautiful.
