Perhaps no other native architecture better exemplifies the spirit of the American pioneers than their barns and cabins. These buildings, built with heavy timbers harvested from the virgin forest, were hewn to size by hand with the ancient broadax and adz.
Today, many people are coming to recognize the beauty of these historic structures and the possibility of living in a unique, historic building, surrounded by the hand work of pioneer craftsmen. Living in such a building cannot help but remind us of days long past when men and women led simpler lives in natural surroundings.
Our timber framed barns, mills and houses originate from the Northeast. The first settlers made use of massive trees from the virgin forests to obtain huge timbers for their buildings. The beams hewn from these timbers are up to 24" wide and some one-piece beams measure as long as sixty feet.
Our cabins are historic, hand-hewn log cabins built by settlers in the 1800's as they pushed Westward across America. They vary in size from a single room cabin to larger 2-story structures with many rooms. We also have unique "dog-trot" cabins available.
