Barn Raising in New Zealand

Home / News / Barn Raising in New Zealand

Starting in 2012, Heritage Restorations is partnering with Timberworks New Zealand to offer New Zealand clients the opportunity to create their own unique barn home. A Timberworks team traveled to Texas to study the techniques for the restoration of these beautiful post and beam structures.

On March 6, 2014, after a few months’ preparation, our first NZ client saw their Heritage Barn raised on their foundation. Considering the relatively “young” history of New Zealnd, this 1780′s building From New York will be a vacation home and the “oldest” building in the country.

    Hi there
As per the person above, we are in the processing of purchasing a plot of land just North of Auckland with a view to building a barn house. I have fallen in love with a couple on the Heritage Barns site, and after seeing the Grand Designs NZ episode we are very keen to import an historic barn frame for the build. Could you please send further information including purchase, viewing in Texas, time frames, consent process etc along with the basic requirements in terms of foundations, so that we make sure we have the right site to be able to able to build our barn.
    Thanks for your help!
    Kind regards,
    Tiffiny

    Hi There.
I am currently searching for a lifestyle block based in Franklin, North Island, New Zealand – and love the concept of having our new home as an old raised barn. Could you please send me some information on the in’s and out’s of logistics with this concept and a rough idea of pricing. I look forward to hearing from you as this idea is truly exciting for me. Thanks
