HOME > Barn-Showcase > General Store
These two early hand hewn barn frames were built originally circa 1780. They are now restored and used as the Homestead General Store. The barn that's used as the main showroom is insulated and air conditioned. The adjacent feed and storage barn is finished as a traditional barn, with white pine siding and roof decking, and large barn doors. This second barn utilizes passive cooling techniques such as a ventilated roof system and gable end ventilators to help keep it comfortable through the central Texas summers.
