Schoharie Dutch Barn Chapel

Home > Barn Showcase > Schoharie Dutch Barn Chapel

This original Dutch barn is the oldest timber frame structure we have ever restored.  Built originally circa 1715 in Schoharie NY, the barn was on the verge of being lost when it was carefully dismantled and restored in 2010.  During the American Revolution this barn survived the British and Indian raid of October 1780 in which many of the barns of New York’s Schoharie Valley, the bread basket of America at the time, were burned in an effort to destroy the food supply of the Continental Army.

The barn now serves a chapel and gathering hall on a ranch in central Alabama, and has been preserved for future generations to appreciate and enjoy.
